Odyssey_54_Web-aSynopsis – The Odyssey

The small sleepy New England town of Oakville is unexpectedly struck by a devastating flood. The people as much as it was possible were able to deal with the flood and its disruption of their lives.  But it was the aftermath of this disaster and what it brought to them that had a lasting effect on each and every citizen of this small village.
When the dam above the town was built, it changed the course of a river flowing underground, and up to now it had never been a problem.  But the huge rush of raging water surging through the town was instrumental in rerouting the underground river back to its original course and in so doing had created a large sinkhole.
Two young brothers, curious as to what happened to their oak tree, took it upon themselves to investigate the sink hole and quickly learned that was where their tree had disappeared to.  But what they discovered at the bottom of that hollow embedded in its side was more than they or their parents and neighbors could possibly expect to find.  At first glance, they weren’t sure what it was.  But on further investigation knew it was a probe.  They were also certain that it did not come from the future, but from the very distant past, antiquity as one would put it, but who or why they couldn’t begin to guess.
While the adults pondered what to do with their discovery, the two young brothers had other ideas.  They thought the probe was a space ship, or at least that’s what it looked like to them. When morning came, they rushed down to see their “space ship” and decided to take command and sail into space.  When they pushed the buttons on the probe they initiated a set of circumstances that took that little village and everyone in it on a journey that would change their lives forever.
The probe transferred the entire neighborhood to a planet drifting in space and to the trials and tribulations the inhabitants had suffered when its twin suns collided and destroyed all life within.  The probe had a two-fold mission: find an intelligent species who could help them survive the oncoming catastrophe; if that failed, find a people who could be persuaded to remember their existence, and who in time would become a part of them.            *Excerpts and reviews of all my novels can be viewed on my website: http://elenadb.home.comcast.net.

*Synopsis: The Imposter*
This is based on a true story. The names of the individuals concerned, the dates, times, places, and actual localities where these events unfolded were changed to protect the innocent. The studios mentioned, were the actual studios involved, although it should be noted that they were completely unaware of how they were being used.
It all began with a newspaper article in a major local paper.  According to the article, a woman sold a book she had written as “property” to a movie producer, and as a result, a new nighttime television series was born. The series, fifteenth in the ratings, had been running successfully for several years. Naturally, this made Mrs., although she preferred to be called Ms., our local novelist, a heroine of sorts and, as she portrayed herself, a willing contact in the arts.
Her list of publications, read like a /Who’s Who./ According to her resume, she had been writing and publishing short stories, novelettes, ‘How To’ Books, and full length novels for over thirty years, in such prominent publications as: /Astounding Science Fiction; Woman’s Day; Little Brown, W.R. Putnam’s & Sons, Inc.; Random House; Harper and Row/ to name a few, all under a pseudonym. She was quite an amazing lady. Not only was she a writer, but she was also an Opera Singer. She performed in such major productions as:/ Jesus Christ, Superstar; Romeo and Juliet; La Traviata; The Pirates of Penzance; /and soloed in many other operas and shows including:/ Oklahoma; My Fair Lady; South Pacific; Finian’s Rainbow; Man of LaMancha; and Kiss Me Kate./ And of course, there was her book she sold to /Aaron Spelling Productions.  /The article also read she sang with /The Glenn Miller Orchestra/ as one of the Modernnaires and she had worked on the backdrops to the first science fiction movie…/Destination Moon.
/    Two local women, having read this article and believing in its validity, were hoping for an avenue to open up for their talents through a mutual contact, since they were both involved with writing and producing a musical stage play. A phone call to this “successful Hollywood Writer” resulted in a meeting at which time she promised to be their “contact”. With the addition of their artist friend, the imposter led them down a twisted path of well-placed lies and acts of deception. A sequence of promises broken caused one of the local women to investigate the validity of the “Hollywood Writer’s” claims of her involvement with major movie and television studios, publication agencies, and local newspapers sources. Following a trail of false claims to their origins, the truth was unfolded one page at a time through phone calls that involved Hollywood Studios, Writer’s Agencies, the Yellow Pages, Psychologists, and with the local newspaper correspondent who originated the story. This clever imposter had beguiled professionals and novices alike at their own disciplines.

Time Rift CoverSynopsis: Time-Rift

Throughout history, scholars, anthropologists, historians and adventurers have written numerous stories about lost continents and ancient civilizations.  Some from a historical point of view, others from speculation, and others from earlier scribes who painstakingly etched their history on tablets that were later transcribed and became the written works that were handed down from one generation to another. The historical references imbedded in this novel are not those of the author, but the words of these earlier scribes.
This novel is a work of fiction based on the premise of “What If?”
What if what they say is true that a little more than 12,000 years ago a large continent, with all its sacred temples, palaces, centers of Law, ceremonial altars and citizens, vanished in a vortex of fire and water and sank beneath the depths of the Pacific taking 64,000,000 souls with it?  Or, that it is written on the Naacal Tablets, ancient Mayan books as well as legends and inscriptions of other countries that on this land lived a technologically superior civilization that preceded all other civilizations. But on that day, 12 millenniums ago, it plunged into the sea leaving behind remnants of what once was.  Or that Easter Island, Tahiti, Samoas, Cook, Tongus, Marshall , Gilbert, Caroline, Mariannas, Marquesas, and the Hawaiian Islands all stand as pathetic fingers to a once proud continent?
If so, then what if now, in this present time, these islands are unknowingly keeping watch over a silent grave, where it has been resting for centuries undisturbed, so deep within the shadows of the Pacific, waiting? —until Trisha.

Review from Mystery Fiction Network
Genre:  Fantasy Romance

With a desire to learn as much as she could about the ancient people of Mu and if the Hawaiian Islands could be a remnant, Trisha Holden returned home to immerse herself in old legends. This takes her into the waters around the islands to explore and learn with an old friend named Martin who was native to the islands.  Martin teaches her the old myths and legends connecting Hawaii to Mu. Can there really be a connection? Could any of this be true.
Going against all warnings not to dive alone, Trisha takes her boat out and dives.  A seaquake traps her and she thinks she will die after running out of air. On awakening, she finds herself trapped in a bubble with descendants of Mu.  There will be no escape for the Pacific Ocean rolls restlessly overhead.
She is taken under the wing of a man named Kan who is the High Priest of this remnant of Mu. Trisha vows she will return to her home as she does not intend to remain a prisoner below the ocean even though Kan tells her that this could get her killed.  With this threat and the discovery that she has earned the enmity of the high priestess, Trisha explores and tries to learn how she might escape. That the bubble that has so long preserved its people shows signs of weakening is not encouraging either.
A fun read by talented author Elena Dorothy Bowman that reintroduces us to old legends of the lost continent of Mu which serves as a setting where well drawn characters work out their destinies.  Excitement and menace serve to capture your attention.  Recommended for any fantasy or romance fan who enjoy something different.  Enjoy.  I did.

Review from Once Upon A Romance
Genre/Sub-genre: Paranormal Romance

Trisha Holden likes nothing better than to swim the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean searching for lost treasure. As part of her archeology research, Trisha scours the ocean looking for indicators of Hawaii ’s lost civilization. The stories that Martin, an old family friend, tells her of the lost civilization on Mu fascinate her. Twelve thousand years ago Mu disappeared under the sea. Is it just a legend or much more than that?
The other thing that interests Trisha is why normally solid airstrips are reported as moving, the water is warmer then normal and the ocean floor is suddenly stirred up. What is going on? Trisha soon finds out when she is caught up in an under water earthquake that sucks her into the lost undersea world of Mu.
As the sea floor opens up and she is thrust in the beautiful submerged world of Mu, Trisha is stunned. What she always hoped existed is actual fact. Mu is an island trapped beneath a transparent water-sky, energy field the holds the Pacific Ocean back. The other thing that surprises her is the inhabitants. They are smart, cultured, beautiful people who can read her mind.
When Trisha meets the High Priest Kan, she knows she has met him before normal land. What is he doing in the underwater world of Mu and why is he telling her she can never leave? He left why can’t she? And why is he denying otherwise? But that is not Trisha’s only problem. Myaculi, the High Priestess, is not happy the Kan her betrothed is taking such an interest in the unwelcome terrestrial. Beware the woman scorned.
It’s a fascinating concept to think of an ancient society existing unknown under the sea. Time-Rift is a what if and why not book. What if Mu existed? What could be learnt from this world? Although, in a lot of ways, the society of Mu is described in futuristic terms, there is also ancient rituals like sacrifices and cruel punishments. You can see why the character of Trisha, an archeologist is so caught up in learning what she can.
Time-Rift is full of jealousy and vengeance. It is romantic and sweet. There is also a strong historical emphasis on Hawaiian legends which I found interesting. There is also the fear of what happens to an old society when faced with an outsider coming in. Concepts like greed and disease compete with one society’s survival.
I found the romance between Trisha and Kan happened very quickly without the usual, hoped for build up of tension and awareness. I realize love happen quickly and maybe love underwater is even quicker but I was a little disappointed.

Time-Rift is interesting. I have never read anything like it before. That makes it a refreshing read.                                                                                                                                                        — Janet Davies – Once Upon A Romance

Adams Point Book III of the Legacy Series by Elena Dorothy Bowman

August 3, 2009 at 8:15 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Synopsis:

bowman_AdamsPointC3-a The third and final episode begins with Ethan’s return to Adams Point after taking some of the guests to Caleb’s Cove in order to lesson the danger that might engulf them.  After the disappearances of the McCutcheons and the Holms, he thought it was a wise move to make until he could unravel the mystery of their disappearances.

Ethan had deposited the four couples in the Bed and Breakfast motels in Caleb’s Cove and asked Tom, one of the Sheriff’s men to watch over them until he could return for them.  And seeing that they were safely established within their rooms bid them good-bye and headed back to Adams Point, promising that he would return with the others as soon as he found them.

He was in a hurry to return to the Point because he didn’t like leaving Abigail alone.  It wasn’t that he didn’t trust the people he left her with.  He didn’t trust the house. It tried to make her a part of it before, not once but twice, and he wasn’t about to let it happen again.  He knew she wasn’t really alone there were three other couples with her along with Tony who would never let anything happen to her.  Still, he wasn’t there and he wanted to get back to her as quickly as he could.  He knew the strange happenings and disappearances of two couples from the Inn had really shaken his remaining guests.  Even if they didn’t leave with the others who were quick to take Ethan up on his offer, they were still unnerved.  They had decided to stay with Ethan, Abigail and Tony instead of going aboard the Abigail for a half-hour sail to the small village of Caleb ‘s Cove and what was considered safety.

Once Upon A Romance’s Review Of…
Adams Point by Elena Dorothy Bowman
Genre/Sub-genre: Paranormal/Suspense Romance

A brooding apparition hangs over the House on The Bluff on Adam’s Point. People are missing and the spirit that has taken control of the house isn’t about to give them up easily. While Ethan and Abigail are used to dealing with the vagaries of their house and the usual spirits that inhabit it, they have no idea how to deal with this new spirit who seems to be holding the house and its occupants hostage.

As the house both attracts and repels the inhabitants, Ethan, Abigail and their guests begin their search for their missing friends within. As they search the mystery surrounding the house starts to unwind as portals into other worlds open up. Can they survive long enough to save those who are trapped?

And what of the relic that an ancient Crusader knight seeks? Is the relic the key to what keeps the house standing? And what exactly will the Knight do to get the relic back to where it belongs?

I liked the prologue at the start of Adams Point. Although I had read the previous book, it was a good recap for me. I believe anyone picking this book up for the first time would easily be able to work out the preceding story by reading the prologue.

The characters in the book are portrayed as normal everyday people who are faced with the supernatural. Abigail and Ethan, the owners of the Inn , know they have ghosts but they have no specials skills or tricks to deal with the situation they are in. Their guests are the same. This made the story more believable to me as I kept thinking would I stick around on my vacation trying to solve a mystery or would I get out and go to somewhere like Club Med? I particularly like the character of Jacob, the ghostly retainer who stays to do his duty. There is something charming and honorable in that. I would have liked to have seen more of him in the book.

This is a spooky almost psychological mystery. I could not work out what was happening. Every time I thought I knew the answer I was wrong. I kept wondering if the House of the Bluff had a life all of its own or if it was being controlled by outside sprits.

I don’t want to ruin the story but I had to wonder why the whole relic thing had not come up as an issue before in the house especially due to the house’s history.

To me, Adams Point is an eerie what-the- heck-is-going-on-here book. You want to kept reading to find out the why and how and will the characters survive. That in itself makes it an good read. –  Janet Davies – Once Upon a Romance

Legacy Series: Adam’s Point
By Chrissy Dionne

When we last visited ADAM’S POINT in the previous book, GATEKEEPER’S REALM, readers were left with many questions regarding the spirits that inhabit the made over Inn which had once been known as Pierce House. Guests have disappeared and there’s a sinister wraith hoovering over the building. Some of the guests have opted to return to Caleb’s Cove where they believe they’ll be safe from the danger lurking at Adams Point, but are they really?

Ethan, Abigail and the guests who chose to remain at Adams Point have no clue what to expect from the wraith or what to do to appease it. With two couples already missing, Tony’s mysteriously disappeared, and unbeknownst to anyone at Adams Point, Jill, one of the guests whom Ethan had dropped off in town has also disappeared. The apparition obviously intends to do whatever it has to in order to ensure his demands are met and until then Ethan, Abigail, Tony and the guests are all at its mercy.

Abigail harbors hope that Jacob, one of the original ghosts – and a friend, will escape the wraith’s clutches long enough to clue them in on what needs to be done to release them all from the nightmare in which they’ve found themselves. In the meantime, the men devise plans to find and rescue the missing people while protecting the women. One of their plans is for the women to leave Adam’s Point and stay at Caleb’s Cove where they’ll be safe. Only it soon becomes painfully obvious that the wraith’s plans don’t include allowing any of them any measure of safety. The only way to satisfy it is to return to the Inn and attempt to appease it somehow. Where have the missing people disappeared to and why? Will Jacob be able to break the wraith’s hold and return to Abigail to let her know what’s going on and what needs to be done to correct the situation?

After reading GATEKEEPER’S REALM I was fascinated with the characters and the vivid imagery that enthralled me throughout the storyline. I’m thrilled to say that Elena Dorothy Bowman’s continuation of the story in ADAMS POINT contains all the same traits that have made the LEGACY series a thrilling read. I loved the men’s alpha attitude and determination to protect the women and had to laugh at the women’s not without us attitude. While the sinister apparition kept me guessing at what stunt it would pull next I was really hopeful to meet Jacob and learn just how he could help satisfy the wraith. I do have to confess while I was quite sure there would be a happy ending for the couples, I wasn’t anticipating the emotions which I experienced at the end of the story – sorry I can’t say more because it’d give too much away.

I would recommend reading all three of the books in the LEGACY series – HOUSE ON THE BLUFF, GATEKEEPER’S REALM and ADAM’S POINT in order to fully experience the wonders carefully hidden and guarded in this fascinating house/Inn.

The Gatekeepers Realm, Book II of The Legacy Series By Elena Dorothy Bowman

August 3, 2009 at 8:01 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Gatekeeper's Realm_Book 2Synopsis:This was the day Abigail was waiting for — the arrival of the schooner Abigail with her first guests at the grand opening of her Inn on Adams Point. It had stood uninhabited for centuries, yet to this day, its beauty and elegance can only be described as ageless and unspoiled. Her husband, Ethan, with his friend, Tony, the town’s sheriff, had picked up the guests at the pier at Caleb Cove and were bringing them to the Inn by sea.
A strange odyssey befell every guest during their stay at the Inn.  Each day brought new challenges, new mysteries and new apprehension. And the nights, well, the nights were especially baffling. What transpired during their sleep not only caught them off guard, but shook the very depths of their souls wondering if they would ever see the light of day again. They had climbed into their beds to rest, only to discover upon awakening their sleep was not what they expected. Nor was it something they wanted to talk about — that is, not all of them. All they knew was their recent strange journeys and experiences, brought them to the conclusion: It is much safer off shore aboard the schooner “Abigail” during a violent storm, than to be on dry land on a sunny day, when “The House” wavers into its unknown and unstable dimensions.

Gatekeeper’s Realm – Paranormal/Futuristic

An ancient relic granted by Divine Decree to a Noble Knight who had been mortally wounded is buried beneath the foundation of a home – this home had once been named Pierce House but now is known as THE HOUSE ON THE BLUFF. Only a direct descendant of the Noble Knight may take possession of the house – and even he or she will be tested by the house to deem if he or she is worthy.
Abigail and her consort, Ethan, have fulfilled the prophecy surrounding their current dwelling which they’ve converted into an Inn. It’s a beautiful house steeped in mystery and ghostly wonders – who cling to the old ways. There’s no electricity, no running water, no central heating system, no phone and no television. Abigail’s a bit apprehensive about their first guests. There’s a possibility they’ll get spooked and want to leave especially once the ghosts make themselves known. There’s no way of telling how the ghosts will react to guests at the Inn and Jacob, the apparitions’ “Ambassador,” knows it will just depend. Many of the ghosts have been living there for centuries and may not like having visitors in their house.
As soon as the first guests arrives a shapeless apparition appears over the Inn. Abigail, Ethan, and Tony (town sheriff and sometime permanent resident of the Inn when he’s not working) quickly realize that this apparition is not one of the ‘Others’ and they question who it is and what it wants. The ghostly appearance doesn’t scare off the guests though and is just the beginning of the bizarre appearances which will be taking place over the next couple of days. What will happen when the guests unexplainably begin to start disappearing – one or two at a time? Is the house holding them hostage?
I don’t normally read ghost stories but I have to tell you I was fascinated by this one! Elena Dorothy Bowmen’s GATEKEEPER’S REALM takes an ancient prophecy and brings it into a modern day setting with results that will steal your breath. I was enthralled by the ghost scenes and the guests reactions to each of them and couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next or to whom it would happen. The storyline moved along at a quick pace but it never lacked enough descriptive information that I was easily able to imagine each of the scenes.
I would highly recommend reading HOUSE ON THE BLUFF first simply because I believe it goes into more of the details of what Abigail had to endure in order to claim the house. Of course, I’m also going to recommend the third book, ADAM’S POINT, because there are questions that are left unanswered in this story and I’m dying to find out the answers. HOUSE ON THE BLUFF, GATEKEEPER’S REALM and ADAM’S POINT are all available now.

Review from Once Upon A Romance:
Once Upon A Romance’s Review Of…
Gatekeeper’s Realm by Elena Dorothy Bowman
Genre/Sub-genre: Paranormal/Suspense Romance

The house on The Bluff is a house with history. The house overlooks the Bay of Death. It has seen great battles and characters. It has no modern conveniences but it is full of characters and old world charm. It’s also full of ghostly apparitions called “the Others”.

Abigail and Ethan are the present owners of the house. They plan to run it as an Inn for guests to come and experience the history and the beauty of the area. They are well aware that what they do is purely dependant on the will of “the others”. Jacob, the spirit that oversees “the others”, has been silent on their plans for the Inn. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

When there first lot of guests arrive, Abigail and Ethan hold their breaths waiting on their ghostly inhabitants reaction. The guests at the Inn are charmed, amazed and spooked by the apparitions – knights of old, British Redcoats and pirates – that appear and disappear before their eyes. However when guests start to go missing, it is no longer as charming as they first believed. Do they stay or go? And will the House actually let them go?

I am a sucker for a good prologue and Gatekeeper’s Realm certainly had one. I was thinking what is going on here and let me read more. It’s an interesting thought that so much history in one house can determine the fate of many and the destiny of what happens in the house.

I like the characters of Abigail and Ethan as they try and make a go at running a business in the most difficult of circumstances. The fact the “the others” technically allow them to live in the house is an interesting premise. I like how Abigail and Ethan are pretty laid back to having ghosts wandering in and out and having to deal with Jacob the liaison offer, if you like, between the living and the dead. The secondary characters, the guests, are all well written and believable. I would like to think I would coolly handle all the things that happened to them as well as they did.

I was a little confused at the ending. I am hoping there is a sequel to answer all the questions I still wanted answered. Also, I was kind of disappointed that ghostly go-between Jacob did not have much of a part in the book. I kept waiting for him to appear and lead the characters to discover whatever it was they were to know or find or be.

Gatekeeper’s Realm is an interesting read. It’s spooky and it makes you wonder abut people and their individual reactions to different situations. If there is a book 3 I’d like to read it.  — Janet Davies – Once Upon a Romance

Genesis Book 4 Sarah’s Landing Series by Elena Dorothy Bowman

August 2, 2009 at 8:53 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Genesis-SL-IV_54

Synopsis – *Genesis Book 4 – Sarah’s Landing Series***
As the fourth episode unfolds, around the year 2055 AD, two volunteers from the first group returning to Earth from Theon, appear on the outskirts of Waverly, Australia.  They notice that their craft has already disappeared on its mission to drop off the other members of the group at specific destinations around the globe.

The impact of returning to Earth causes havoc with their mental and physical senses.  After arriving at a pre-designated Safe House, the man and woman realize it is just the first step in their indoctrination back into a life they once knew.  Weeks later, they immigrate to North America and become integrated into the population at Genesis and at Ocean-view, as part of their re-entry.
As the difference in the time rotation span of the two planets, Earth and Theon, begins to take its toll on Martha and John, they realize they tire more easily and no longer wish to teleport anywhere, except for emergencies.  They are content to watch the younger members of the group from Theon adjust to their new environment on the land they now call home—Planet Earth.

* * *

Andrew as commander of the Starship Pleiades has to patrol and protect Earth’s space station network.  Because of the advancement in technology, some of the stations are manned by Humanoids, a cross between an android and a human. The inhabitants at Genesis and Ocean-view are “tuned in” when the first challenge comes from an unknown source in deep space destroying a space platform, as Andrew is patrolling nearby in the Pleiades. Months later, when the second attack materializes, the people of Genesis and Ocean-view again glued to their telepathic visions, watch spellbound as the impending encounters are being played out in space. Mesmerized by the raging battle between the Earth forces, led by the Pleiades, and the Crlllion forces, led by the Barbarian, they are horrified by the visions of the Barbarians bent on destroying the Pleiades.

As the story continues Andrew introduces Adam to his girlfriend’s friend.  The two women become deeply involved with the two men and thoughts of marriage enter the minds of all.  As the Earth girls learn the secrets of their boy-friends lives, their ties to the Planet Theon, and the arrival and departure of people from that planet, the probability of their own travel by teleportation frightens them and they wonder if it is wise to continue their relationship.  How do they explain their feelings or their love for Andrew and Adam to their parents?  What do they do about the little known enclave of Theonians on Earth?  And how do they avoid hurting the people they’ve come to know and love without betraying their own family, their own people, or their own planet?

Sarah's Landing II - * The Telepaths of TheonSynopsis of The Telepaths of Theon – Book 2 – Sarah’s Landing Series:

Sarah’s Landing –II – The Telepaths of Theon  – Synopsis

Torn by the plight of the people of the planet Theon and his love for one of their daughters, the man from Earth, Joshua has returned to his own planet to re-evaluate his dedication to his first love. As the novel of the second episode opens it is slightly before the time of the birth of his Earth son. After Joshua reluctantly decides to return to Theon, the guilt of leaving Alexandra, his first love, and Andrew his son to be, dulls his senses as he traverses the void between Earth and Theon. His thoughts thus consumed he is unaware of the pull towards the dark planet Crlllion until suddenly an internal alarm alerts him. Trying desperately to gain control, he wonders if the barbarians are actually the cause of the diversion in his transport destination. Joshua’s plight is detected on Theon by the Ruler, Heron, in time to avoid disaster by correcting his trajectory, and bringing him safely through the void. As the weeks and months pass, Joshua and his Theonian wife, the Ruler’s daughter, settle into a normal routine while awaiting the birth of their son Adam. Meanwhile the birth of his Earth-bound son, Andrew, proceeded in near unison with his half-brother.

Joshua’s decision to return to Theon leaves his first love feeling hopelessly abandoned which drives her into the arms of his best friend.  Although reluctant at first, the feeling of total loss compromises Alexandra’s innermost desires for the sake of her son, Andrew.  Before her marriage can be consummated Alexandra’s husband-to-be “dies” in a mysterious car crash. His body is never recovered, which drives her to the brink of insanity.  She doesn’t realize these events are being orchestrated by the Ruler of Theon and his henchman on Earth.

Theon’s Council and its Ruler, Heron, worry that Joshua’s loyalty to his first love on Earth cannot be completely broken. Believing it to be the only way to keep him on Theon, they plot to destroy all his Earthly ties, which mean the destruction of Alexandra and his first-born son, Andrew. Detecting their plan, Joshua, with extra-ordinary powers gained from discovering their Ancient culture, imprisons Theon’s Council within the depths of the planet where signs of their ill health, manifests itself.

While Joshua’s attention is diverted on Theon, he is unaware that on Earth, his young son, Andrew, desperately wishes to spend this third birthday with his alien brother. Andrew plans to wait until all are asleep before teleporting to Theon to be with Adam. He does not realize the danger he places himself in, or the heartache he causes everyone, both on Earth and on Theon.

Joshua’s search for Andrew brings him to an offbeat planet where he discovers the answer to a long sought secret. He knows, once he sees to Andrew’s safety, he will have to return to the rescue site in order to ensure no evidence remains that might lead the Theonian nemesis, the barbarians of the dark planet Crlllion, to them.

With the death of Heron, Theon’s Ruler and Adrianne’s father, the role of Leader is thrust upon Joshua and any thoughts of life on Earth forces a decision he would rather not make. After all, each of the two women is desirable and they are the Mothers of his children. Reluctantly, final decisions must be made for the survival of an entire race, the safety of his two sons, and the home he yearns for where the happiness of his first love still remains.

The Theonians, a civilization far advanced, and with fantastic psychic abilities, are on the brink of disaster.  The need to find another universe with a compatible life form is urgent.

That life form is found on Earth.  The Theonians easily integrate amongst the people of Sarah’s Landing, New England, unbeknownst to the inhabitants.
Joshua Morgan is a special investigator of the Alien Intelligence Team of the Space Intelligence Command (SICOM).  In love with telepath Alexandria, he mysteriously vanishes leaving her alone and pregnant.

On Theon, he is chosen as the next leader of the Theons, and joins with Adrianne, the daughter of the leader, Heron.  He also fathers a baby with her, and telepathically, all five are linked ? Alexandria, Adrianne, Joshua and the babies, sons Andrew and Adam.

Joshua’s friend, Lt Harry Jacobsen, loves Alexandria, and hopes to marry her.  At first disbelieving, he eventually comes to realize that she speaks the truth about another species.  This results in his disappearance and ‘believed death’.

The problems are building at a tremendous rate, for now not only is Joshua caught in a quadrangle with the two women and the two sons he loves, but the possible ‘neutralizing’ of Alexandria and her son Andrew by certain Theon Council members is a very real threat.  Internal conflict breaks out between the Earth men who live on Theon and the Theon council themselves.  Andrew disappears when trying to teleport to Theon. And to top it all off, a growing threat in the form of a cannibalistic race called the Crlllions is looming.

A story of epic proportions, book 2 of Sarah’s Landing is a whirlwind of happenings and possibilities, and heart-wrenching emotion, as a group of people are caught up in a future of what remains to be seen…horror, love, or despair?  What are the secrets that link Sarah’s Landing to the Theonians?

Elena Bowman is a mistress of her craft!  A recommended read for any lover of the sci-fi genre.

Bowman - Contact-SL-I

Sarah’s Landing – 1 — Contact — Synopsis*

A 111-year-old mystery — people who vanished ten years before the new millennium — the first space-exploration star-ship, Earth Star-I, lost in deep space fifty-one years later — Is there a connection between these unexplained disappearances, and a village situated along the rocky coast of New England, a place out of time, called Sarah’s Landing?

Joshua Morgan, the Astronaut/Biologist scratched from the ill-fated space flight, had the determination to seek out the answers. Working out of the Space Intelligence Command in Houston, Texas, his investigation leads him to long-forgotten secret government archives in Washington, DC, and to a little-known underground chamber in the old uranium storage caverns along the Colorado River in Utah. Slowly, almost magnetically, he is drawn to Sarah’s Landing. Stories told by the local townspeople of the Founders’ House, and of the strange going’s-on within, draw him to the site over the objections of a redheaded telepath, Alexandra McKay, who interests him greatly. Little does he realize his quest will take him to the far reaches of space and to an alien planet no one knew exists.

The story takes place in the year 2055 and weaves around Sarah’s Landing, one of the last vestiges of an earlier era. Unknown to most of its inhabitants, it maintains an unusual bond with an alien city, in an undiscovered galaxy thousands of light years away, on a planet where a race of aliens possess telepathic, telekinetic, psychic abilities more powerful and far-reaching than anyone could have imagined.

In his search for answers Joshua falls deeply in love with Alexandra, who senses danger in his life. Soon after his disappearance, the first inkling of an alien bond manifests itself in her dreams. Trying desperately to find him, Alexandra enlists the aid of Joshua’s friend, Lt. Henry (Harry) Jacobsen, a Navy Lieutenant who is quickly smitten by her.

A quadrangle develops when the main characters, Joshua, Alexandra, Harry, and the alien leader’s daughter, Adrianne, are helplessly caught in the entanglement of an affair that spans two different planets light years apart. Joshua discovers that his love for the two women, results in the birth of two sons— siblings — one from the alien planet Theon, and one from Earth, empowered with mind-linking capabilities. This phenomenon results in detection by an ominous dark force whose threatening presence is overcome by the interconnecting relationships of the people of the Planet Theon and Planet Earth.

Sarah’s Landing is a work of pure imagination. September 10, 2001

This sci-fi tale is a perfect blend of fantasy, mystery, and romance working together in a most seductive way. The peaceful setting of this New England coastal village is anything but what it seems. Dark forces are at work breaking down the barriers of two separate worlds. Its rich characters will draw you in as they struggle to find answers to a century old mystery they believe is a connection between our own planet and one called Theon. Sarah’s Landing is the first in a four part series, and as such leaves the reader begging for more. The characters are real and complex, driven by compassion and loyalty. But where their loyalties lie is another matter. The plot is intriguing and spun in true sci-fi fashion. All the elements of a wondrous tale are here as Elena keeps the reader in suspense from beginning to end. I can’t wait to read book II, The Telepaths of Theon.

The Second Review is by Jackie Young: Correspondent of the Westford Eagle:

*/”Chelmsford author’s tale is out-of-this-world”/*

Even those who are not sure they are science fiction fans may be swept up in Sarah’s Landing-I, a spellbinding tale which takes the reader from the rocky shores of a small New England town to a planet in an undiscovered galaxy thousands of light years away. The wonder of it is that the author has managed to tell the tale of astronaut/biologist Joshua Morgan so convincingly. Her down-to-earth approach, soaring imagination and her expertise in software engineering are a winning combination. The kinds of experiences that her characters encounter have the ring of truth to them.

Set in the year 2055, the book centers around the hero’s attempts to solve the 111-year-old mystery of people who vanished 10 years before the new millennium, and the loss of the first starship, Earth Star-I which vanished 51 years later.

This fast-paced novel, which incidentally, is also a first-rate love story, will undoubtedly pull readers in. Bowman’s powers of description are second to none. Here is a book that is difficult to put down ? a real page turner.
